The horizontal accuracy of airborne LiDAR system cannot be tested and reported in the same manner as aerial photography due to the inability to precisely correlate the centre of the LiDAR beam and a pre-surveyed ground control point. It is generally acceptable for the data producer to report the expected horizontal accuracy of elevation products as determined from system studies or manufacturer documentation. The system used was the Riegl Q780i which has a stated horizontal accuracy = 1/3,885 x altitude (RMSE)
The average flying height (for the project area) above ground was 1000 m which would produce a horizontal accuracy of ~0.257 m @ 1 sigma

Process_Description:
Soon after the collection flight has been successfully completed, the LiDAR data is transformed from a raw binary format to a .las file. Quality assurance is then performed in order to identify any anomalies that maybe present and also verify the fit between collected LiDAR strips. Any adjustment or transformation from its original spatial reference may then be performed. The LiDAR dataset will be clipped, tiled (1km x 1 km), then automatically and manually filtered at the customer's discretion (customer preferred classes). The completed LiDAR dataset is then exported into the desired format(s).
